TOCCATA-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra continues

13th SUMMER MUSICFEST with TOCCATA BOPS  Patriotic Celebration  July 1-8 

Building on its June Beethoven-Mozart Summer MusicFest kickoff series, TOCCATA-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra will continue its 21-concert Summer MusicFest with TOCCATA BOPS, featuring Best of Broadway, Opera, and Patriotic Pops selections.

The first concert is on Sunday, July 1 at 4:00pm at the St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville (1343 Centerville Lane), and opens with a rousing armed forces medley for orchestra and chorus and Leroy Anderson’s equally rousing hit, Bugler’s Holiday. Brad Perry and Stuart Duke, will perform the Friendship Duet from Bizet’s opera Pearlfishers, while sopranos Joy Strotz, Becky Earl, Anne Davidson and Jackie Lengfelder will delight the audience with operatic arias and duets.  Guest artist this year from New York is Melody Moore,  to perform Broadway hits and a special duet with her sister, Joy Strotz.

The concert continues with hits for the SummerFest chorus: Amazing Grace; Going Home theme from Dvorak’s 9th Symphony, and Battle Hymn of the Republic.  The concert concludes with Sousa’s Stars and Stripes, a new arrangement of God Bless America, Tchaikovsky’s brilliant 1812 Overture, and an audience singalong of America the Beautiful, featuring the newly formed North Lake Tahoe Children’s Chorus.  Maestro Rawie’s baton will be auctioned off, as well as the bass drum’s biggest beater.

Other concerts in the series will be presented on on Tuesday, July 3 at 6:30pm at on the Village Green/Hyatt Hotel Aspen Grove (960 Lakeshore Blvd, Incline Village, NV · (775) 832-1240)  in Incline Village as part of the Red, White and Tahoe Blue celebration, and on Friday, July 6 at 7:00pm at Bartley Ranch Amphitheater (6000 Bartley Ranch Road-Reno) as part of Artown.   The final presentation will be on Sunday, July 10 at 3;30pm at St Theresa Church in South Lake. Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances. 

Both July 3rd Red, White and Tahoe Blue and July 6th Bartley Ranch-Artown concerts will be free of admission charge, supported by grants from John and Diane McCall and the Robert Z. Hawkins Foundation.  Donations are needed, and much appreciated. 

Tickets will be available at the door or online at www.ToccataTahoe.org.  General admission is $30 adults and $25 for seniors. *TOCCATA 13th Anniversary Celebration, is proud to be part of the 23rd Anniversary of Artown and the July 2018 Festival.  The month-long summer arts festival features approximately 500 events produced by more than 100 cultural organizations and businesses in locations citywide. Artown receives major funding from the City of Reno, and is sponsored by U.S. Bank, NV Energy, IGT, Grand Sierra Resort, University of Nevada, Reno, Wild River Grille, Washoe County, Reno Tahoe USA, Fox 11 News 4 and My21TV, Reno Media Group, RGJ Media, KUNR Public Radio and KNPB Public Television.  Additional support is received from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.

TAHOE SYMPHONY-TOCCATA Continues 13th Summer MusicFest with

 

The Romantix: Beethoven-Rossini -Dvorak    July 28-August 5  2018     

 

TOCCATA–Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus continues its 13th Summer MusicFest with The ROMANTIX: Beethoven-Rossini-Dvorak on Friday, July 27, 7:00pm at Carson Valley Methodist Church in Gardnerville (1375 Centerville Lane).

 

The program opens with Gioacchino Rossini’s Overture to The Barber of Seville, and continues with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 in C major.  The program concludes with Anton Dvorak’s Cello Concerto Opus 104, performed by Peter Lenz,  the principal cellist of the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra.   Jeff Lindhorst serves as concertmaster.  Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances.

 

Other performances are Sunday, July 29, 4:00pm at Cornerstone Church in Incline Village (300 Country Club Dr), and Friday, August 3, 7:00pm at St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe (1041 Lyons Ave./96150).   The final performance will be on Sunday, August 5, 4:00pm, St John’s Presbyterian Church in Reno at 4:00 PM (1070 W. Plumb Lane/89509).  

 

A Soiree Musicale Fundraiser for this series will take place on Sunday, July 22 at 4pm at a private home in Zephyr Cove.  Tickets are $125per person/ $200per couple. For more information call 775-833-2478 or buy tickets at www.ToccataTahoe.org.

TOCCATA’s 13th  Summer MusicFest continues September 3-11 with the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 Memorial Concert series, featuring Alex Eisenberg performing Bruch’s Violin Concerto #1 in G minor.  TOCCATA Symphony Chorus will perform selections from Verdi’s Requiem.

TOCCATA Presents 9/11 Memorial Concert Series   Sept. 2-11

TOCCATA Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will finalize their 2018 Tahoe Summer MusicFest with a four concert series beginning Sunday, September 2 at 4:00pm at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville).  The concert series commemorates the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy. 

The concert will open with Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto in G minor, featuring guest artist Alex Eisenberg.  The concert concludes with selections from Verdi’s solemn symphonic-choral masterpiece, Requiem, with soloists Joy Strotz, Becky Earl, Anne Davidson and Jackie Lengfelder, sopranos; Liudmila Mullin, mezzo; Brad Perry and Michael Dewayne, tenors; and Stuart Duke and Chris Nelson, baritone; and includes the 66 voice Tahoe Symphony Orchestra Chorus.   Jeff Lindhorst serves as concertmaster, and Maestro James Rawie, TOCCATA’s Founder and Artistic Director, will conduct all performances.  

The concert will be repeated on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7:00pm at St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe (1041 Lyons Ave-96150), and on Sunday, Sept. 9, at 4:00pm at St John’s Presbyterian Church in Reno  (1070 Plumb Lane-89509).    The final performance of the 9/11 Memorial Concert series will be Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 7:00pm at Cornerstone Church in Incline Village (300 Country Club Drive-89451). 

A Soiree Musicale Fundraiser for this series will take place on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 4:00pm at a private home in Reno featuring Elizabeth Pitcairn performing on the legendary Red Stradivarius Violin. A second Soiree Fundraiser will take place in Zephyr Cove on Monday, Labor Day at 4pm.
