TOCCATA Kicks off 13th Summer MusicFest with Mozart and MMMore

 

TOCCATA–Tahoe Symphony kicks off its 13th Summer MusicFest with

BEETHOVEN & MOZART  June 2-10 2018     

TOCCATA–Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus kicks off its 13th Summer MusicFest with “Mozart & MMMore Series” on Saturday, June 2 at Cornerstone Church in Incline Village at 4:00 PM (300 Country Club Drive).  The program opens with selections from Mozart’s Mass in C “Coronation” KV 317, featuring soloists Joy Strotz, Becky Earl and Anne Davidson, sopranos; Brad Perry and Chris Nelson, tenor; and Stuart Duke, baritone.  The program continues with Mozart’s Sinfonie Concertante for Four Winds and Orchestra, KV 297. Soloists are Nita Tune, oboe; Jim Stanley, clarinet; Chris Bonelli, bassoon; and Bruce Kanzelmeyer, horn.  The concert concludes with Beethoven’s famous Piano Concerto #1 in C Major performed by guest pianist Michael Angelucci.  Jeff Lindhorst serves as concertmaster. Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances.

 

Other performances are Sunday, June 3 at 4:30pm at the United Methodist Church in Gardnerville (1375 Centerville Lane) and Friday, June 8 at 7pm at St Theresa Church in South Lake Tahoe (1041 Lyons   Ave.). The final performance will be on Sunday, June 10, 4:00pm at St. John Presbyterian Church in Reno (1070 W. Plumb Lane).

 

Tickets for this series are available at the door or online at www.ToccataTahoe.com.  General admission to these concerts is $30 adults, $25 seniors.  Preferred seating is $40 and $15 for youth/students.   Youth and students with ID under 23 years of age are free, in non reserved seating, at most regular season concerts in 2018.    All performances are supported by a new grant from Elvira Orly.

 

A festive fundraiser will take place on Wednesday, June 6 at 5:00pm at a private home in Genoa.  Pianist Michael Angelucci will perform, and several of TOCCATA’s top vocal soloists and singers from our recent tour to Salzburg will provide vocal entertainment.  A tax deductible donation of $100/person is requested. TOCCATA’s 13th  Summer MusicFest continues July 1-8 with four presentations of TOCCATA BOPS! featuring selections from Broadway, Opera and Patriotic favorites. The presentation on Tuesday July 3 is the kickoff for Incline Village’s “Red, White & Tahoe Blue” and  Friday, July 8 at 7pm BOPS will be part of Artown. TOCCATA-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra continues

13th SUMMER MUSICFEST with TOCCATA BOPS  Patriotic Celebration  July 1-8 

Building on its June Beethoven-Mozart Summer MusicFest kickoff series, TOCCATA-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra will continue its 21-concert Summer MusicFest with TOCCATA BOPS, featuring Best of Broadway, Opera, and Patriotic Pops selections.

The first concert is on Sunday, July 1 at 4:00pm at the St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville (1343 Centerville Lane), and opens with a rousing armed forces medley for orchestra and chorus and Leroy Anderson’s equally rousing hit, Bugler’s Holiday. Brad Perry and Stuart Duke, will perform the Friendship Duet from Bizet’s opera Pearlfishers, while sopranos Joy Strotz, Becky Earl, Anne Davidson and Jackie Lengfelder will delight the audience with operatic arias and duets.  Guest artist this year from New York is Melody Moore,  to perform Broadway hits and a special duet with her sister, Joy Strotz.

The concert continues with hits for the SummerFest chorus: Amazing Grace; Going Home theme from Dvorak’s 9th Symphony, and Battle Hymn of the Republic.  The concert concludes with Sousa’s Stars and Stripes, a new arrangement of God Bless America, Tchaikovsky’s brilliant 1812 Overture, and an audience singalong of America the Beautiful, featuring the newly formed North Lake Tahoe Children’s Chorus.  Maestro Rawie’s baton will be auctioned off, as well as the bass drum’s biggest beater.

Other concerts in the series will be presented on on Tuesday, July 3 at 6:30pm at on the Village Green/Hyatt Hotel Aspen Grove (960 Lakeshore Blvd, Incline Village, NV · (775) 832-1240)  in Incline Village as part of the Red, White and Tahoe Blue celebration, and on Friday, July 6 at 7:00pm at Bartley Ranch Amphitheater (6000 Bartley Ranch Road-Reno) as part of Artown.   The final presentation will be on Sunday, July 10 at 3;30pm at St Theresa Church in South Lake. Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances. 

Both July 3rd Red, White and Tahoe Blue and July 6th Bartley Ranch-Artown concerts will be free of admission charge, supported by grants from John and Diane McCall and the Robert Z. Hawkins Foundation.  Donations are needed, and much appreciated.

*TOCCATA 13th Anniversary Celebration, is proud to be part of the 23rd Anniversary of Artown and the July 2018 Festival.  The month-long summer arts festival features approximately 500 events produced by more than 100 cultural organizations and businesses in locations citywide. EPIC Concert Series featuring Elizabeth Pitcairn, guest violinist

TOCCATA – Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus continues its 13th annual WinterFest with Elizabeth Pitcairn In Concert, performing with the legendary Red Mendelssohn Stradivarius violin. The four concert series opens with Mozart’s symphonic choral masterpiece Mass in C minor, featuring vocal soloists Joy Strotz, Anne Davidson and Becky Earl, sopranos; Liudmila Mullin and Jenna Simms, mezzo soprano; Brad Perry, tenor; and Stuart Duke, Emzy Burroughs and Chris Nelson, baritones. Finalizing the concert will be Elizabeth Pitcairn, guest violinist, performing Mozart’s Violin Concerto #4 in D major, KV 218 and Saint Saens Rondo Capriccioso for violin and orchestra.  Jeff Lindhorst is Tahoe Symphony concertmaster. Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances.  

 

The performances are Saturday, February 17 at 4pm at Cornerstone Church, Incline Village (300 Country Club Dr.); Sunday, February 18 at 4pm at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville (1343 Centerville Lane); and Friday, Feb. 23 at 7pm at St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe (1041 Lyons Ave.  The final performance will be Sunday, Feb. 25 at 4pm at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in South Reno (100 Bishop Manogue Drive).

 

Two special soiree musicale fundraisers will take place at private locations. The first will be at the Supper Club at Genoa Lakes Golf Course on Monday, February 19 at 3:00pm and the second at a private home in Montreaux (South Reno) on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 3pm.  Tickets are $125 per person.  Elizabeth Pitcairn will perform with pianist Donna Axton accompanying. Vocal soloists, Joy Strotz, soprano; Liudmila Mullin, mezzo soprano; and Brad Perry, tenor will also delight with concert arias and broadway hits.  For more details or to reserve tickets call 775-833-2478.

Series Features Mozart Requiem and Saint Saens Violin Concerto #3 with Guest Artist Elizabeth Pitcairn performing on the legendary Red Stradivarius Violin

TOCCATA Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will finalize their 2017 Tahoe Summer MusicFest with a four concert series beginning Wednesday, September 6 at 7:00pm at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Carson City (3597 N. Sunridge Drive).  The concert series commemorates the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy. 

The concert will open with Mozart’s solemn symphonic-choral masterpiece, Requiem, with soloists Joy Strotz, Becky Earl, Anne Davidson and Jackie Lengfelder, sopranos; Brad Perry and Chris Nelson, tenors; and Stuart Duke, baritone; and includes the 60 voice Tahoe Symphony Orchestra Chorus.  The Requiem was unfinished at Mozart’s untimely death, but was completed by Mozart’s widow, Costanza and his student, Franz Sussmayer. The concert concludes with famed violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn performing Camille Saint-Saens Violin Concerto No. 3 in B minor on the legendary Red Stradivarius Violin. Maestro James Rawie, TOCCATA’s Founder and Artistic Director, will conduct all performances.  

The concert will be repeated on Friday, Sept. 8 at 7:00pm at St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe (1041 Lyons Ave), and on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 4:00pm at St John’s Presbyterian Church in Reno  (1070 Plumb Lane).    The final performance of the 9/11 Memorial Concert series will be Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 7:00pm at Cornerstone Church in Incline Village (300 Country Club Drive).
